If there’s one thing we know about eyebrows, it’s that they can make or break a beauty look. Our faces are pretty much incomplete without a bit of brow grooming here and some brow pencil there. Unfortunately for these nine celebrities, we can’t say that they’ve made very wise brow choices, but we’ll just let them stand as the prime examples of what we shouldn’t do. Sorry, guys.

Ariana Grande
Ariana has a lot of good things going for her beauty-wise, but her ashy, confusingly colored brows definitely don't rank.

Lindsay Lohan
We don't think we need to tell you what's wrong with this look. The dark, thick effect on Lindsay's brows is totally out of context with her auburn hair and freckled complexion, resulting in a look that's just, well... off.

Drew Barrymore
Ah, the '90s! Drew was a victim of the over-tweezing trend of the decade, resulting in full brows turned into barely-there wisps. Fortunately, she's since returned to a more natural look.

Miley Cyrus
We'll never really know why Miley decided to bleach her brows, but we're glad they're back to their natural color. We wouldn't be surprised if she is, too.

Sarah Hyland
We love a bold brow, but this look is a touch too bold. We'll just say that Sarah's brows could have done with a little bit more blending to make them look more natural.

Julia Roberts
Natural, totally untouched brows were a big trend in the '80s—just like that wild curly hair!—and though a bushy look has certainly made a resurgence, we recommend at least a little bit of maintenance to keep things in check.

Pamela Anderson
Keep this look in mind next time you tweeze: Pam's brow situation is the result of years of over-plucking, so don't make the same mistake.

Angelina Jolie
Angelina may work a flawless beauty game these days, but we'll never forget the severe, slightly terrifying arched brows of yesteryear.

Britney Spears
If patchy brows are one of your biggest beauty concerns, it may behoove you to carry a brow pencil on hand for touch-ups to avoid a sparse look like Britney's.
