Brnice Bejo has once again been nominated for her role in The Artist. While we may not have known much about the actress before, we've certainly become well acquainted with her red-carpet style!

This beautiful ginger is not only nominated for her loveable role in The Help, but she is the leading lady in two movies that were nominated for best picture (The Help and Tree Of Life). Not a bad start to 2012!

Melissa McCarthy is the name on everyone's tongues this morning, as her nomination for best supporting actress came as a complete surprise! Her role in Bridesmaids is certainly memorable (mainly for a certain bathroom scene), but she wasn't recognized at other awards shows this year, like the Golden Globes. The actress is probably just as shocked as we are.

Octavia Spencer's nomination came as no surprise this morning, since The Help star has won at Critic's Choice and Golden Globes. Chances are, Octavia will be adding an Oscar to her shelf of awards.

While Janet McTeer is no stranger to awards shows, it is her stage theatre career that has garnered her attention in the past. Now the British actress is nominated for her role alongside Glenn Close in Albert Nobbs.

Speaking of Albert Nobbs, Glenn Close is once again recognized for her title role in the movie. Although she hasn't won the category at this year's other award shows, the Oscars may just be the ceremony that changes her luck.

There may be five women nominated for best actress, but it seems to really be down to Michelle Williams, Meryl Streep and The Help's Viola Davis. Davis took the Critic's Choice Movie Award but Williams and Streep left with Golden Globes. As for the Oscars, may the best actress win!

Rooney Mara seems to be the dark horse among the Best Actress nominees. Given the results of previous award shows this year, she isn't likely to win, but if she did, it would be well earned. Her complete transformation for the role is awe-inspiring.

Michelle Williams may have won the Golden Globe when in a separate category from Viola Davis and Meryl Streep, but will she be able to beat them on Oscars day? Her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe has wowed critics and viewers alike, so only time will tell if it was worthy of an Academy Award.

By now, Meryl must be running out of room for all of her Oscars. Does she line the rooms of her house with the little gold men? Her talent is legendary, and at this point, it seems a little unfair to pit any other actress against her.
