Here’s a little fact about me: Bagels are my favorite food. Like, actual favorite food. Half my online passwords reference the humble round, overly dense carb in some form or another, and if I weren’t so aware as their status as the kings of empty calories, I’d eat a bagel (or two) every day.

And while nothing’s better than a thick layer of plain old cream cheese (smooth, not whipped—ugh), I do sometimes feel like other bagel toppings—protein-heavy eggs, good-fat-filled avocado, metabolism-boosting hot sauce—makes eating the bread more justifiable. Here, 15 to try today.
