One of the more interesting theories heard on the slopes these days is the discussion about the popularity of snowboarding versus skiing. It’s certainly applicable to the quickly evolving equipment technology but also to the tremendous shift in ski gear (read: sick athletic wear even for the coldest of mountains).

Better colors, better materials, better fits: the end result? Better style. Whether snow bunnies like to admit it or not, let’s get real. So many switched to snowboarding early on because it was simply cooler. But now skiers can check their self-loathing at the lodge, we can rock the cool gear and still stick to our first beloved sport. We don’t even have to feel awkward in our nerd alert ski garb while our snowboarding comrades get to rock the latest looks.

Over the past few months we tested some of the best gear out there and above are a few of our favorites we thought you totally needed to hear about. So whether you’re still trying to get one more trip in this year or you’re already planning for next year – make sure you pick up some of the items above to ensure that people will be checking out your form and your style on the slopes.
