Design inspiration rarely leaves any speck of the globe untouched and the latest burst hails all the way from Africa.

While the fashion world can often be accused of being overly preoccupied with luxury and upscale manufacturing, everyone from Suno to Vogue Italia has been calling attention to the skilled artisans and textiles that come from this area over the past few seasons. For spring, designers translated Africa’s bold colors and geometric patterns into chic, updated silhouettes on the runway, giving us a slate of tantalizing prints to mix, mismatch, and DIY all summer long.
