We often get so caught up watching a sports game (especially the Olympics!) that we find ourselves yelling at the TV louder than we do during the Barneys Warehouse sale. In the midst of all the excitement, we often forget to appreciate that cute necklace worn by a tennis player (surely for good luck) or the intricate hairdo a gymnast pulled off to keep their hair out of her face.

Looking back, some of our favorite Olympians have truly made fabulous efforts to keep stylish both on and off the field. Over the years, we’ve also seen such impressive red carpet looks from some of these all-stars that we’re convinced the stereotypes around “jokes” are pure myth.

Take a look through the gallery to take a look at our pick of the 50 most stylish Olympians of all time. Which one’s your favorite? Tell us in the comments below!

  1. Awww, the pic of Dorothy Hamill took me right back to the ’70s. I remember when all my friends were getting her do — and we were only, like, 6 years old! ;)

  2. Brilliant ! Nice choices for mostly understated elegance. J’adore!

  3. Thumbs up for fashionable olympians!

  4. You dont know many UK Olympians then? Jessica Ennis =)

A very nice and timely collage! For me, Maria Sharapova all ways “does it”! Second from your list is the late Flo Jo whose style I miss. She was never “second” on the track. Happily I met her once at a meet in the north part of Manhattan. Kudos on getting Pressed like Freshly updated Judges’ scoring!

  6. Great post! Let’s include USA Basketball Women’s Team player Asjha Jones who designed a fab shoe line, Takera, for women who wear size 11-15 shoes. http://fxw12.wordpress.com/2012/07/20/tortora-takera-

Eh. Would like to think for once we would care more about what women can accomplish than what they are wearing, these are the strongest women on earth! Who cares if they are “stylish”

My favorite look would be #37 Sasha Cohen. I was wondering, though-Is #10 really Serena Williams? Unless it’s an extremely old photo, it looks like her sister Venus to me. Serena is much more muscular these days and wearing her hair curly. Like this photo, Venus has really long braids and is pretty thin with her illness and all.

  10. cakesbykat says:

By the way, I think the Williams sisters are pretty fashionable on the tennis court.

  11. Love this!

  12. wow, just discovered your blog and I LOVE it. My favourite is Maria Sharapova, but far, she is so stunning. What a great post! Come check my blog out sometime too if you want :)
