Taylor Swift: The 23-year-old country-pop star may have plunked down $17 million in cash for her Rhode Island abode, but that doesn't mean she's outfitting it in custom European linens and putting gold leaf on the ceilings. In fact, just the opposite—to prepare for Memorial Day, the star (along with her family) went to Marshalls and HomeGoods in nearby Narragansett where she snagged six carts of items including beach towels. Our guess is her total spent that day wasn't even nearly as much as her Jimmy Choo shoes at the recent Billboard Awards.

Prince Harry: Prince Harry can shop just about anywhere—especially when it concerns his undergarments. But he prefers to keep things cheap and easy, which is why he recently headed to TK Maxx (the British outpost of TJ Maxx) and purchased an iPhone case, a hoodie and a bunch of men's underwear.

Selena Gomez: She may reap the benefits of being Justin Bieber's girlfriend that likely come in the form of lavish accessories, but when it comes to shopping for herself, Gomez is a conservative spender. "When it comes to shopping I love a bargain. I don’t usually spend over the $20 mark. I feel so much better buying a top for $20 that isn’t so different from the one that costs $200. It’s really rare that I buy something expensive, and if I do, I think about it over and over before splashing out," she told Perez Hilton back in 2010. While daring designer looks from labels like Versace and Dolce & Gabbana are her standard these days on the red carpet, when she's not working, she shops at stores like Target and Victoria's Secret.

  • BRITAIN-ROYAL

Kate Middleton: How can we not mention everyone's favorite frugal fashion star? As the Duchess of Cambridge, many would expect a far more expensive wardrobe on the royal, but she always keeps it simple and classic. In labels like Topshop and Zara, she's managed to become one of the more prominent style setters today because many can afford to look like her. Like her brother-in-law Prince Harry, she loves to shop at TK Maxx.

  • 102.7 KIIS FM's Wango Tango 2013 - Arrivals

Britney Spears: Given the amount of times we've seen paparazzi photos of Spears exiting gas stations wielding big bags of Cheetos and sipping on orange soda, it shouldn't come as any surprise that she's not opposed to shopping at major mass-retailers and always bargain hunting. She's been spotted at Walmart numerous times, most recently over Easter weekend, where she threw on a pair of sparkly Uggs and shopped till she dropped.

Miley Cyrus: 20-year-old girls love Forever 21, and even though she's a multimillionaire with closets overflowing with Chanel handbags, so does Miley Cyrus. She's been spotted there numerous times throughout the years, and while she doesn't wear the retailer's designs on the red carpet, her savvy spending at the store is reflected in her street style. Last month, in the midst of her romantic drama with Liam Hemsworth, she was spotted indulging in some retail therapy at Target.

  • Skinnygirl Cocktail PreParty

Bethenny Frankel: She netted tons of money when her SkinnyGirl line sold to a massive liquor company, but that doesn't mean she's been splashing the cash around. Instead, Frankel still shops for clothes at stores like Target and TJ Maxx. Shes particularly fond of the latter, and last summer tweeted, "If I've been to Tj maxx 3 times in one day am I officially a maxxinista?" We think she qualifies!

  • First Lady Michelle Obama Presents National Medal For Museum And Library Service

Michelle Obama: The FLOTUS puts all of us to shame. Between shopping at Target to wearing clothes from mass retailers like Gap and J. Crew, she's always perfectly put together but never fussy. Also, we're pretty sure she's the only person in the world who could get away with wearing an outfit and then showing up with it to shoot the cover of Vogue!

  • Women in the World Summit 2013

Angelina Jolie: With her partner Brad Pitt, Jolie has six kids—so no matter how rich they are, it's important to cut corners where they can. Back in 2007, she made headlines at a premiere wearing a $26 dress she found in a vintage shop. When it comes to the children, they're not dining out at Per Se every night. In fact, the famous family has been spotted rolling through the McDonald's drive through numerous times picking up Happy Meals.

  • "PUNK: Chaos To Couture" Costume Institute Gala

Kim Kardashian: She may have a lot of Birkin bags and have custom ballgowns designed for her by Givenchy's creative director Riccardo Tisci, but Kardashian really does love a good bargain. These days, she regularly steps out in dresses from Sears—okay, so it's technically her line Kardashian Kollection—but still! Her famous family has followed suit as well, and it doesn't seem that it's all for promotional purposes—their pieces definitely resemble the work of some of their favorite high-end designers, and they seem like they love the styles. Kardashian was previously a major fan of Forever 21, but her love seems to have dimmed after an article alleged that she was plus-sized on the brand's sizing chart.

Despite what Us Weekly wants us to believe, stars aren’t really just like us. They’re rich, famous, and constantly have a steady stream of free stuff thrown at them. (In case you’re unaware of how the whole “world of red carpets” works, it’s very rare that a star has actually purchased the glamorous ensembles they’re wearing, as it’s usually lent to them, or gifted in some circumstances.)

However, just because you see a celeb out and about looking like a million bucks doesn’t mean that that’s how they shop in their spare time, as some stars haven’t made their affinity for snagging a bargain every now and again a secret. In fact, we’ve gotten quite a bit of intel lately about a number of famous folks doing a little retail therapy in discount stores (you won’t believe where Prince Harry buys his underwear!). That’s why we’ve decided to compile a list of 10 celebrities who famously love a bargain.

Click through the slideshow above for a look at who’s cutting corners despite their big bank accounts!
